I have seen countless patients in almost a decade of experience in healthcare. From this I have seen what works and what doesn’t work in changing habits. I have found that the first step is uncovering an individuals inner narrative, personal values, and desires. Second step is taking this information and creating a personalized plan of  small realistic steps of action. The third step is being held accountable by a non-judgmental person who makes you feel safe and celebrates your wins with you and guides you when you fall short.
Â
So much of my career in healthcare has been in pursuit of helping others change their behavior so they can be happy and healthy. This pursuit has simultaneously ran parallel to my personal healing and transformation journey. I have had my struggles with depression, anxiety, and the poor lifestyle choices that can accompany these. I have been an emotional eater, cigarette smoker (yep that is right), binge drinker, and all around avoider of any uncomfortable feelings. It wasn’t until I discovered my inner narrative and values through mindfulness and meditation, reframed this inner narrative, then took  small steps in alignment with my values that I felt myself truly changing. I am a work in progress, as we all are, but I believe we all have our best selves waiting to be discovered so we can positively impact those around us.
Â
I  believe that we become aligned with our best self through spiritual principles such as mindfulness and meditation. By becoming our best self, we then create a positive ripple effect on those around us. I do my best  so I can contribute my part to this positive ripple.Â
